What You Need to Title a Vehicle from a Sheriff’s Sale<BR>
1. Proof of Ownership:
The court order or sheriff’s bill of sale serves as your proof of ownership.<BR><BR>
2. Application for Certificate of Title:<BR>
Complete the Application for Certificate of Title.<BR><BR>
3. Title Fee:<BR>
Pay the $10.00 title fee. Contact your County Treasurer for accepted payment methods.<BR><BR>
4. Sheriff’s Inspection:<BR>
A Sheriff’s Inspection may be required. Check with your County Treasurer for details.<BR><BR>
5. Bill of Sale or Form 6:<BR>
If ownership is being transferred, you may need a Bill of Sale or a completed Nebraska Department of
Revenue Form 6 (Sales/Use Tax and Tire Fee Statement for Motor Vehicle and Trailer Sales).<BR><BR>
6. Odometer Disclosure:<BR>
An Odometer Disclosure Statement may be required if the title is being issued by court order.<BR><BR>
Where to Apply
Submit all documents to the County Treasurer’s office in the county where you live. The County Treasurer will verify
your documents and issue a Nebraska Certificate of Title.
